Ealing Road Methodist Church

Welcome

Ealing Road Methodist Church is a multicultural church in the heart of Wembley.

Even though our congregation is diverse, we share a common faith and vision; to response to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out it’s discipleship in worship and mission.

All are welcome to the church for a life changing experience, to discover many wonderful people and as a small church you can fit in quickly if you decide to join us.

We will be delighted to have you join us. We welcome you to our Sunday service at 11:00 am and many more events and activities as listed on this site.

About Us

The church was opened in October 1909 in a corrugated iron building until the New Church was built in 1927. The Minister Rev George Shapcott raised money for the new church. Part of the money, £2500.00 was donated by a Jewish butcher that Rev Shapcott befriended during the first world war. The corrugated building became the "hall" for all activities until the new hall was built in 1964 with money from the sale of the old park lane Methodist church which stood on the corner of Park Lane, Wembley, Opposite Wilkinsons. The Highlight of the year was the annual Bazaar held in December. All organisations had a stall and lunch was served by Mrs. Jo Wise and friend. We had many concerts the most notable being the Black and White Minstrel Show by the Men's fireside. The Men's fireside also had a cricket team that used to play in a local league. The women's Fellowship held coffee mornings. The choir was very active and helpful with concerts throughout the year. The boys brigade plus band was very well attended and they used to march to church in full regalia. The Sunday School was formed soon after the church was built and became very popular, it was always buzzing with activities. There has been many changes to the building over the years, the latest was the transformation of the front of the church. Part of the church was taken to open up the entrance and make a lounge area, which has been very successful. Although the war years reduced the membership, there has been a steady growth in people attending Sunday Worship. We are a multicultural church and welcome anyone into our fellowship.

The Ealing Road Methodist Men’s Fellowship group was started in 2019. Their aim is to to enable the men of the church to gather together at least once a month in a comfortable social basis to share fellowship with one another.
